The Healing Place Therapy Services

Therapy is a personal journey to healing and well-being. Melissa Price, LCSW, is a somatic therapy expert offering customized, highly effective therapy targeting trauma, sensory issues, dysregulation, anxiety, and relationship challenges.

Traditional therapy often centers on cognitive processes alone, yet over 80% of our bodily responses and understanding stem from our subconscious, somatic experience. Integrating somatic, body-inclusive therapy is essential for fostering lasting, holistic healing.

Individual Therapy

Melissa offers individual psychotherapy for adults navigating the effects of trauma, eating disorders, sensory sensitivities, relational challenges, and anxiety. Her work draws on extensive advanced training in Somatic Experiencing, Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Embodied Recovery, Polyvagal-informed care, Brainspotting, and the Safe and Sound Protocol.

An expert in trauma treatment, Melissa works at a steady, intentional pace, prioritizing nervous system safety and clinical attunement. The therapeutic relationship is approached as a carefully held container—one grounded in trust, regulation, and long-term well-being.

Brainspotting & EMDR

Brainspotting and EMDR (eye movement desensitization and reprocessing) are highly effective, targeted techniques for trauma and traumatic memories. Both have been shown to greatly reduce negative impacts of trauma, intrusive memories, distress experienced by clients. The technique works through guiding the eyes to spots or into movement associated with traumatic memories.

Rather than having to explain everything in words, Brainspotting and EMDR allow the body and brain to do the work they already know how to do — releasing stuck survival responses, emotional pain, and long-held patterns. Many people find it especially helpful when they feel “stuck,” overwhelmed, or aware that something is affecting them but can’t fully put it into language.

This approach is slow, attuned, and guided by your nervous system. You remain in control the entire time, while we create a safe, supportive space for your system to process at a pace that feels manageable. Melissa is extensively trained in both Brainspotting and EMDR modalities in order to create a custom experience to best benefit her clients.

Melissa incorporates mindful awareness, breathing and co-regulation into each of her sessions to ensure an environment of safety to process challenging experiences. Melissa's mature, compassionate therapeutic presence and her ability to engage a person in distress within a safe, trusting space where they feel truly heard, accepted, and understood leads to lasting healing effects.

Safe and Sound Protocol (SSP) is an evidence-based, auditory intervention designed to support nervous system regulation and emotional resilience. Informed by Polyvagal Theory, SSP uses specially filtered music to gently stimulate the vagus nerve, supporting a shift from states of chronic stress and protection toward increased safety, connection, and regulation.

By enhancing auditory processing and calming the autonomic nervous system, SSP can be particularly supportive for individuals impacted by trauma, anxiety, sensory sensitivities, and emotional dysregulation. When integrated thoughtfully, SSP creates a stabilizing foundation that allows for deeper therapeutic work and sustained well-being.

Melissa offers SSP both virtually and in person, with the protocol delivered in a carefully titrated and individualized manner. The full protocol includes five total hours of listening, completed over time in sessions ranging from 10 to 50 minutes, depending on each client’s nervous system capacity and therapeutic needs. Pacing may shift throughout treatment to ensure safety, integration, and optimal benefit.

Couples Counseling

Melissa offers Somatic Couples Therapy, a depth-oriented approach that departs from traditional couples work by integrating the body’s innate wisdom into the therapeutic process. This modality attends to how emotion, tension, and trauma are held within the body—and how these embodied patterns shape communication, intimacy, and connection within relationships.

Through carefully guided, body-centered interventions, couples are supported in developing greater awareness of their own internal experience and increased attunement to one another. The work cultivates empathy, regulation, and resilience while addressing both emotional and physiological patterns that influence relational dynamics. Over time, somatic couples therapy supports deeper healing, more authentic connection, and a strengthened sense of relational security.
